SCM Business / January 2020 Meeting« Last post by SCMAdmin1 on January 22, 2020, 09:46:46 am »In our first meeting of 2020, we explored several options that will allow our club to grow and remain viable for years to come. Austin Wilkerson, SCM President, led discussions regarding incorporating as a 501(c)(3), obtaining liability insurance, institution of member dues, and the 2020 Calendar. Although some members commented on the challenges of incorporation, no one expressed dissent. Several agreed that liability coverage should be discussed further. Annual member dues seemed to be ok with those present. The meeting’s agenda is posted below.

Maintenance Recommendations / Re: NC rear shock replacment« Last post by Michael.Summerour on December 02, 2019, 07:04:11 pm »Thanks again for the help and advice. I did end up it to Scott Jett today. I'm waiting to hear back from him on what exactly he found wrong. I really don't want to go back to stock Miata parts on this. Once Scott calls me I'll walk though the options with him ( meaning $$$$ ). I would like a better ride than the stock equipment.

Maintenance Recommendations / Re: NC rear shock replacment« Last post by John.06 on December 02, 2019, 02:57:22 pm »I'm not sure where you live anymore. Will Perry is in Sale Creek. He does good work inexpensively.
http://www.rivergate5speed.com/ Or Scott Jett is on Lee Hwy near Northern Tool. https://www.theautoshoptn.com/ Either one does great work. If you are wanting to get buy with the least expense, replacing the bad one with an OEM shock will be it. But I'd replace them all since the rest are also worn and, at least the early cars, were too harsh on the stock shocks. I don't think there is any justification for lowering most cars, especially Miatas. Lowering gives up too much compression travel. So, ask Goodwin or Racing Beat which springs to choose to lower it the least. Here's my pick, though I wish they were stiffer. https://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda-Performance-Part/60-1366.html. 49
Maintenance Recommendations / Re: NC rear shock replacment« Last post by Michael.Summerour on December 01, 2019, 02:12:16 am »What shop / mechanic who any of you recommend? I've got a torn rotator cuff and a disconnected upper bicep, so doing any repairs on the suspension is out of the question for me to do it myself.

Maintenance Recommendations / Re: NC rear shock replacment« Last post by Michael.Summerour on December 01, 2019, 01:50:09 am »Thanks for the help. I remember you saying that you had replaced the suspension on your car, but I had forgotten what brand you had used.
I not totally sure what the issue with my car is, bot the when I hit the least little bump with the back end, it sounds and feels like the car has no suspension. I feel a hard jolt and hear something like the car shock has bottomed out. |
