I was also considering the idea of an oval shaped sticker; what do you guys think?

SCM Business / July 2020 Virtual Meeting
« Last post by SCMAdmin1 on July 19, 2020, 04:14:24 pm »
Hello everyone! Your fearless President here coming to say hello from our very first virtual Monthly Meeting. While Chattanooga’s COVID-19 infection rate reaches new daily peaks, we at Scenic City Miatas always want to ensure that our club is operating in the most safe and sanitary way. For the time being we will be hosting our Monthly Meetings through our forum. An email will also be supplemented as well to convey the most information.

From the Newsletter:

Last meeting we discussed our logo change and we have undergone a complete transition to our new SCM Logo. We will be using this logo on all merchandise from this point forward.
Understanding these are rough times with COVID-19, we will be RESCHEDULING the Cookout at the Crockers, originally scheduled for later this month to a later date.

We will be continuing our annual drive to the Tail of the Dragon even though MATG has officially cancelled. There is plenty of talk that there will be plenty of Miatas making the drive anyways. As we are close enough to make a fun day trip out of it we will be joining in on the fun as well. Just remember to follow social distance procedures, mask over the exhaust pipe and 6ft between bumpers everyone!

Discussion based:

Club banner

We will be creating a banner and are accepting donations now. Currently, we need input based on material, size, and design. Our options are:

Mesh: +20% price but will ensure 5 years of use. Right image, air passes through less stress.
Vinyl: +0% price but only ensure 2 years of use. Left image, no air passes through more stress.

142-0

Sizes are to be
2.5ft x 4ft or 2.5ft x 6ft or 2.5ft x 8ft

144-1

Design
Other than the logo, what would you want to see on a banner as you drive by a bunch of cool Miatas showing off how cool they are? This is something we would use to showcase our group at events, show where to gather, and generally advertise our club presence.

Please reply to this post and tell us your favorite combination Material, size, and design that you would feel best represent our club.

Club Magnets

Due to popular demand, we are ordering club magnets! We are looking to have them printed off in a large sheet of 6+ at a time to save the most on ordering costs. This allows us to cut them as we see fit, but I want to know how you would cut yours if you were to cut it. Would you make it a rectangle, a square, would you put a number on it? Here are a few examples!

Forum and Newsletters

We have tossed around the idea of implementing a newsletter for a little while now. COVID-19 gave us the chance to utilize it. For the future we wanted to use this platform to announce events in the Chattanooga area that may appeal to a Miata audience. This could be a weekly, bi-weekly, or even monthly. We are gauging interest now, but we want your opinion on how to make it the best it can be! Our forum has been looking sad because it needs more Miata friends, so we thought it would be nice to cheer it up by hosting a Monthly Meeting here! Let us know if you all would like to do the same and meet here again next month.

For now we will be keeping a very close eye on the current COVID-19 situation and will update via email mailing list and social media outlets to keep you all up to date on information regarding this club.

Announcements & Events / CANCELLED Annual Run to the Crockers’

This is our annual run to the Crocker’s.  Jim & Susan will lead us on a casually curvy drive to their house in Sale Creek.  Bring a lunch, even a burger or steak to grill if you like. Due to COVID19 precautions, we will not bring side items to share as we did last year.  After lunch, we’ll take a nice drive to Oren Wooden’s Apple House for desert.  From there, we’ll each go our own way. Wooden’s, at the time of this post, is closed.  We’re hoping that will change by the date of this event.

Meeting Location: Rosario’s Pizzaria
                           911 McConnell School Ln,
                           Hixson, TN 37343

IF, IF, IF, weather forces a cancellation of this event, a cancellation notice will be posted on the Facebook Event, and an email notice will be sent to all persons on the email list.

Families of Brookdale Assisted Living in Cleveland TN are organizing a Drive-By Parade for the residents.  One of our members has invited us to participate.  Cars will begin lining up at 5:15 beside the Brookdale Center, 2745 Executive Park Dr NW Cleveland, TN. The theme for this drive-by parade is Luau.  Although not required, you may decorate your car to match the theme.  We’d really like to have a lot of Miatas join us for this very meaningful event.  Please check “GOING” on our FaceBook Event if you can drive in this event.

Maintenance Recommendations / Re: Alignment Recommendations

I got good service from Chattanooga Alignment off Cherokee Blvd near Nikki's.  I took my own alignment specs.  The Goodyear shop on Hwy 58 once had a tech that knew Miatas.  You might call and see if he's still there.

Hey Mike,
After new shocks and sways, I went to Doyle’s in Ft Oglethorpe.  I gave them the alignment specs I wanted.  It’s been two years now and I see no adverse wear on my tires and the handling and turn response was improved.  I got the specs from Flyin Miata.  You’ll need to make an appointment.

Hope this helps,
Eric

I need an alignment on my 94 Miata.  who do you guys like/trust in Chattanooga for a miata with specific setup?  I am planning some work and tires but don't want to drive far before aligned.  thanks!  Mike
